Well I got everything ready around the bus for Steve to see from his last visit on improvements I have worked on and sort of wanted his approval I guess of my hard work and design of things I had done since his last visit. I don’t get many real viewers of my work, hell, I don’t get any really. Well Steve came just as it was getting Dark, but I had flashlights ready! We spent some time going over all my latest improvements and he picked up a few things he thought he might want to do which tickled the hell out of me as I put a lot of thinking time in every aspect and move of every part of my conversion.
Then steve opened up his vehicle back-end to show me all my new Christmas Presents, I could not wait. NON BUS LOVERS would not understand!!! He brought me another bell housing which I need to go on my old engine I took out of my bus so I can re-assemble my old engine, Pickle it with oil and put it in long storage if it is ever needed. NEVER to be sold. I do not think there was really anything wrong with my original bus engine to begin with now after much investigation but we will stick to the new engine with only 49,000 miles on it after a rebuild and maybe this old engine out of my bus will never have to be reused in my life time, I hope.
Here is a photos of my new 2 stroke Diesel, ain't she pretty, 49,000 miles from a face lift, can't wait to here her purr and pull that load of steel I been working on for 13 years now this March, 2014. It's gotta be hard to understand to those not committed to something for that long, but some of us know that drive after all that time, not to think of the $$$, thank god for the support of friends, vendors that have given me breaks on my supplies and of coarse my biggest support of all my best friend in the entire world who has never wavered in supporting me, my beautiful wife Linda. We are getting there baby girl.
Now this photo is nothing, I mean nothing like she is going to look like when she is all dressed up and ready to go back into her working spot in the bus. You will see, I am thoroughly getting excited after all these weeks of prepping this baby for her new home. Gotta give her a test run though on my test stand with gages, radiator and the whole shebang all hooked up first. No one in a hurry here, can't wait though.
Steve brought me a pair of steel valve covers I am feverishly going to exchange for aluminum ones, 110 volt welding machine he does not need any longer, a sandblaster tank set up, engine air filter canister (big), and a very, very much needed new flywheel with gear ring valued at between ($500-$2000) brand new at a detroit dealer depending on the model of the engine!! So you see why I still believe in Santa from Kentucky! Steve sure saved me a lot, I mean a lot of money and that is what a good friend will do that does not always put profit on everything. Clifford Allen did that for me too not too long ago and I am grateful as he too contributed to me being able to use the money saved from items he sent on other things I needed. Eric Brown also has contributed to my bus conversion knowing I am a dumpster diver converter!! I intend to pay that kindness from these guys paying it forward as often as I can to others. There is no greater feeling to help others that need it when they are struggling to give them a boost of encouragement like has just been given to me like from guys like Steve & Clifford & Ed & Eric.
My good busnut friend Ed Brenner gave me the best deal ever on this new 8V71 engine I am now preparing to install in my bus for weeks now that I owe him big time for and will never forget the terrific deal he gave me. I tried to pass that on in my way when I sold my engine with the jake brakes to a nice young fellow (Josh Brannon) just a couple of days ago and will continue. It feels good to just give, what you receive in return cannot be put in monetary value and at times this is worth so much more.
There is only one more thing that could make me happier today & that is to get a phone call from our Grandkids here in SC that we have not seen in 39 days, thanks to (No Grandparents Rights) supported by the politicians of SC. Other than that this has been a great day. Update, the number of days now, (February 4, 2014 is (51 horrible days), the SC Parental System SUCKS when it comes to Grandparents rights, just SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you never ever have to find out for yourself, the pain is unbearable at times, you world is so cluttered at times and hard to make decisions, it is just hard to explain.
Have a great night, what is left of it, tell those you love that you love them and mean it.
